About the course
The Brisbane Golf Club is a private members' club at Yeerongpilly, on Brisbane's southside. It was founded in November 1896 and first played at Chelmer, beside the river upstream of the Indooroopilly Bridge. Insecure tenure there led members to buy 100 acres at Yeerongpilly, where the new course and clubhouse opened in 1904. Carnegie Clark, a three-time Australian Open champion, produced the original design, and about a dozen architects and committees have shaped it since, among them Dr Alister MacKenzie, who advised on changes in 1926, and later Wayne Grady and Ross Watson. The club ran the first Queensland Amateur in 1900, the first Queensland Open in 1925 and the first Queensland PGA in 1926, and has hosted the Queensland Open a record 21 times.
The 18-hole course plays to par 71 from all four sets of tees and measures 6,638 metres from the navy tees, 6,416 metres from the gold, 5,985 metres from the white and 5,542 metres from the sky blue. It has TifEagle greens and Winter Green fairways, with 69 bunkers on the main 18 and six more on the three spare holes, the 19th to 21st. A green resurfacing programme began with a trial on the spare holes in 2025, and the 18 holes reopened on the new greens in 2026. The course record of 63 was set at the 2018 Queensland Open.
- 1st (Founders Way): a par 4 of up to 345 metres over a crest to a raised green with five bunkers, the only hole still in its original Carnegie Clark form and numbering.
- 18th (Blue Gum): a dogleg-right par 4 that climbs to a well-bunkered green beside the clubhouse.
Members of reciprocal clubs, and interstate and international visitors, can play by arrangement. Bookings are essential and a letter of introduction is required: contact the Director of Golf on (07) 3848 1008. The interstate visitor fee is $300, international fees are on application and reciprocal members pay the competition fee only. Non-member carts are $75 for 18 holes and $45 for nine, and hire clubs cost $100. A dress code applies across the whole precinct, car park included. On the course men wear a collared shirt tucked in with a belt, golf shoes must have soft spikes, and T-shirts, singlets, cargo pants and blue denim are not permitted (denim is accepted only for functions and dining).
The 300-metre driving range, in use since 1923, reopened after a redesign in September 2024, and guests may use it to warm up before a round. There is also a short game area, two putting greens, a Trackman swing and putting studio in the golf shop, and tuition and club fitting in the Pavilion.
