About the course

Allora Sports Club runs a nine-hole parkland course in the Southern Downs town of Allora, alongside lawn bowls greens and a clubhouse that hosts functions and community groups. The club gives 1997 as its year of establishment, and a creek runs through the course.

From the white tees the nine holes measure 2,272 metres and play to par 34. An 18-hole round is two laps from the same tees, 4,544 metres and par 68, with a course rating of 65 and a slope of 107. The greens are kept quick.

  • 1st: a 485-metre par 5, the longest hole.
  • 8th: a 108-metre par 3, the shortest, met twice in an 18-hole round.
  • 9th: a 340-metre par 4 to close the lap.

The course is open to the public every day. Outside competition times no booking is needed, and the online tee sheet shows open times. Green fees are $30 for 18 holes and $20 for nine, the same for members and visitors on any day, paid at the bar or, when it is unattended, by honesty box or QR code. Dress is casual, but singlets and work boots are not allowed.

  • Friday: the Duck Run, a social nine from midday to 4pm, $7.50, no handicap needed.
  • Saturday: social golf, turn up and play.
  • Sunday: club competition, names in by 11am for an 11.30am shotgun start; the course is closed to social play from 11.30am to 3.30pm.

Motorised carts cost visitors $20 for nine holes and $30 for 18 (a driver's licence is needed; book on (07) 4666 3380), and pull buggies and sets of clubs can be borrowed free. The clubhouse bar serves drinks only, with no kitchen, and opens Friday 11am to 6pm and weekends 8am to 6pm. The course can close after heavy rain, and closures are posted on Facebook.
