About the course

Northam Golf Club is the golf section of the Northam Country Club at 15 Wood Drive, Northam. The club began with a rough nine-hole course on Island Farm, between Cemetery Road and the Avon River, then moved in 1918 to Dunnard, now the site of the Northam trotting ground, where another nine holes were laid out. In 1948 it bought the freehold of a property called Springfield to build an 18-hole course, and 1949 was the first season on the present site. In October 1985 the golf club renamed itself the Northam Country Club so that other sports could share the complex, which now also has squash courts, eight grass tennis courts, a gym, a function room and a licensed bar.

The course has 18 holes. The main golf season runs through winter, opening with an open day in April, with stableford, stroke, par and ambrose events on Saturdays, ladies' days on Tuesdays and a men's Scroungers group on Wednesday afternoons. In summer the club runs a nine-hole competition on Sunday afternoons.

The course is open around the clock, and green fees are paid into a cash honesty box or online by QR code. The club's 2026 fixtures booklet says visitors must belong to an affiliated club and may play no more than six times a year. In the clubhouse during the winter season the minimum dress is a collared shirt, long trousers or dress shorts, and shoes and socks. The clubrooms open when sport sessions are on or by appointment.
