About the course

Tenterfield Golf Club is on Pelham Street, Tenterfield, in the New England region. The course dates from 1901 and the club marked its centenary in 2001. The present clubhouse was opened on 24 February 1979 by Lionel Barnett, then president of the NSW Golf Association, and in February 2004 a local police sergeant set a Guinness world record at the club by playing 1,800 holes in seven days.

The 18-hole course is par 71, measuring 5,682 metres from the blue tees and 5,578 metres from the white, with red and pink tees for shorter rounds. Male social players are asked to use the yellow markers. It is a tree-lined layout with many raised or sunken tees, sloping greens, drains across several fairways and dams near the 7th and 12th. - 6th: a 173-metre par 3 played from a tee well above the green, which has a severe back-to-front slope. - 8th: the longest hole, a 519-metre par 5 that doglegs right downhill and then climbs to the green. - 18th: a 134-metre par 3 played uphill, with a sand bunker and a grass bunker at the front of the green and two rocks short of it.

Social play is available every day unless a tournament is on. Green fees are $25 for 18 holes and $18 for nine, motorised buggies cost $45 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, and hand buggies are $4. Practice nets sit between the 14th green and the 15th tee, beside a practice putting green, and practising on the course before a stroke competition is not allowed.

The clubhouse has a bistro and lounge serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, plus squash courts and function rooms. Fairways Lodge offers play-and-stay packages with accommodation, continental breakfast and unlimited golf, and a courtesy bus is available for larger groups.
