About the course

Bonalbo Golf Club is a nine-hole course in the village of Bonalbo in the Upper Clarence Valley, laid out around the banks of Peacock Creek off Woodenbong Road. The course was built largely by volunteer labour on a mix of leased and club-owned land, and the club joined the Northern Rivers District Golf Association in 2000.

The nine holes are made up of four par 4s, four par 3s and a par 5, for a par of 33. Every hole has an alternate tee, so an 18-hole round plays to par 66, and the course rating is 63. Water is the main feature: there are three large water holes and a small creek in play, and the main creek runs along the boundary. Fairways are narrow, lined with trees and shrubs and grassed with paspalum and kikuyu. The greens are grass, and recycled effluent and stored water are used to irrigate the greens and tees.

Social golf is available seven days a week. The club runs a nine-hole "chook run" competition on Wednesdays for $5 and an 18-hole competition on Saturdays for $10; social green fees are not published online. The club phone is 02 6665 1208.

The golf club is a subsidiary of the Bonalbo Bowling and Recreation Club, and golfers can use the parent club's facilities, which include an air-conditioned bar, a kitchen, function and meeting rooms, and a covered outdoor barbecue area. Catered meals are available on open days and on pre-arranged social days.
