About the course
Carpentaria Golf Club is at 1 Tom Morrison Drive in Weipa, on the western side of Cape York. The course has nine holes with 18 separate tee positions, so a full 18-hole round can be played over the same fairways.
The club's main event is the annual Weipa Goodline Open, a 36-hole tournament played over a weekend in early May that brings golfers from across Far North Queensland; the 2026 edition on 2 and 3 May drew 55 players. Tropical Cyclone Narelle battered the course early in 2026, leaving the second hole and the first green under water, and community volunteers helped with the clean-up before the Open. The club has also spoken about how hard Weipa's long wet season and long dry season are on its greens.
Social golfers are welcome and tee times can be reserved with the club. An informal group called the Dawnbusters plays on Sunday mornings, teeing off at about 6am, and invites newcomers to join in. The clubhouse has a restaurant, and the club's listing showed opening hours of 8am to 9pm. Green fees are not published online, so call (07) 4069 7332 or email cgclub@bigpond.net.au before visiting.
