About the course
Gove Country Golf Club is on Golf Club Road, about 4 kilometres from the Nhulunbuy town centre and 400 metres from Middle Beach on the Gove Peninsula in north-east Arnhem Land. The club was established in 1970 and has hosted many pro-am tournaments. Its main event today is the 54-hole Gove Gulf Amateur Open, a handicap tournament that draws players from around the Territory and interstate.
The course has nine all-grass holes with alternate tees, making an 18-hole par 72 layout (ACR 71) of 6,110 metres. Blue and yellow tees are the men's front and back nines, and red and orange the women's. A volunteer team maintains the course. Local rules allow relief from buffalo hoof prints and droppings and from paperbark wasps, and lateral water hazards come into play on the 1st, 6th, 7th and 9th.
Visitors and social golfers are welcome. The course is open from 6am to 6pm daily. Advertised social golf hours vary by day, for example 9am to 6pm on Saturday and 8am to 6pm on Sunday, and other times can be arranged with clubhouse staff. The 2026 casual green fees are $40 for 18 holes and $30 for nine. Motorised carts cost non-members $50 for 18 holes and $30 for nine; carts are limited, so book through the bar on (08) 8987 3191 and bring a driver licence. Club hire is free. Weekly competitions include nine-hole Stablefords on Friday and Sunday, an 18-hole event on Saturday and an all-day nine-hole chook run on Wednesday.
The two-storey clubhouse has a licensed bar for members and bona fide guests, views over the beach and the Golfie Kitchen, which serves dinner Wednesday to Saturday, lunch Thursday to Saturday and brunch on Sunday morning.
