About the course

Moranbah Golf Club is at 1 Leichhardt Drive in Moranbah, a Bowen Basin coal town about 200 kilometres inland from Mackay. The town itself only dates from 1971, when the Utah Development Company built it to house workers at the Goonyella and later the Peak Downs mines.

The course has 10 holes and can be played as a 10-hole round or as 18 holes. Over 18 holes it measures 5,977 metres and par 72 from the men's markers, and 5,243 metres and par 74 from the women's.

Members and guests are welcome. Green fees are $27 for 18 holes and $22 for 10. Motorised buggies cost $40 for 10 holes and $50 for 18, club hire is $25, and push or pull buggies are free. Members book into competitions online. Junior golfers up to their 18th birthday play a weekly competition on Sunday mornings, starting from 7.30am, with 18, nine, six and three-hole fields grouped by age, and clubs can be provided.

Practice facilities include a practice fairway and a short game area with putting and chipping greens. The pro shop, GolfKing Moranbah, is a satellite store of GolfKing Mackay, and PGA professional Anthony Johnson visits regularly for lessons and club fittings. The clubhouse restaurant, Woods and Irons, serves food and drinks before, during and after a round and caters for functions.
