About the course

Proston District Golf Club is at 81 Brigooda Road, Proston, in the South Burnett, about 20 minutes' drive from Boondooma Dam. The club was established in 1932 and is a non-profit run entirely by local volunteers.

The course has nine holes and 18 tees, laid out on just under 40 acres among mature trees. It is reasonably flat and easy to walk, has no sand bunkers and brings a few water hazards into play. The club's pages do not list par or hole lengths.

Everyone is welcome, from beginners and families to regular golfers. Nine-hole social golf runs on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with the Friday group teeing off at 2pm. Electric buggies are limited and cost $20, so book ahead with the club. Clubs can be hired for $5 from the clubhouse, where a volunteer will meet you, and balls and tees are on sale. The club holds charity golf days each year and a Grey Nomads weekend in October.

Visiting golfers can camp free on the grounds, with a donation encouraged to help keep the club going. The camping area suits tents, vans and big rigs and has hot showers, toilets and free wifi, with firewood supplied when no fire ban is in place. Large groups should contact the club in advance, and lunch or dinner can be arranged on request.

The 19th Hole Restaurant is closed for now, but the bar is open. The clubhouse is also hired out for weddings, celebrations and community events.
