About the course

Wallaroo Golf Club is on Cornish Terrace in Wallaroo, on the Yorke Peninsula. The club was formed in 1907, with Dr Harbison as its first president. It bought its first clubhouse in 1914 after the Wheat Board moved its sheds closer to the railway, built a new clubhouse in 1950 and renovated it in 1963. The fairways were later connected to the effluent scheme, with an automatic sprinkler system installed by the District Council of the Copper Coast.

The course is an 18-hole par 72 of 5,894 metres from the men's tees and 5,056 metres from the women's tees. After planning that began in 1996, members voted in 2017 to replace the sand scrapes with grass greens on all 18 holes, which the club says made it the only 18-hole greens course on the peninsula. Conversion began in July 2023, the back nine opened in November 2023 and the front nine in January 2024. Players carry sand buckets, and there are toilets out on the course near several tees and greens.

Visitors are welcome and can join club competitions. Green fees are $35 for 18 holes and $25 for nine, and children under 12 play free. Pay at the golf office, open daily from 8am to 5pm, or by QR code or bank transfer when it is unattended. The club has 18 electric carts at $40 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, and hires hand carts and club sets at $10 each.

The 2026-27 summer season opened on 6 October 2026:

  • Tuesday: women's nine-hole session, 9am tee-off, open to beginners and visitors.
  • Wednesday and Saturday: men's competitions, 12 noon tee-off.

The adjoining community club sells snacks and drinks and has an indoor bowls arena.
