About the course

Dongara Golf Club sits on Golf Course Road between the twin towns of Dongara and Port Denison in the Mid West, with views across both towns to the Indian Ocean. It was founded in 1931 as a sand-green course, and over the following decades members cleared the fairways, planted salmon gums and tuarts, and converted the course to grass greens. It remains a not-for-profit club run largely by volunteers, with a greenkeeper on staff and regular working bees.

The 18 greens are saltene grass and fully reticulated, watered from a mix of bore and treated water, and the fairways run through mature native bush.

The course is open every day and visitors are welcome. No tee time is needed: pay before you play, and card payments are accepted. Green fees are $40 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, with a weekly ticket at $120 and juniors under 18 at $10. The club has a small fleet of carts at $50 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, which should be booked ahead, and hire clubs at $15 a round. Bring a sand bucket to repair divots; scorecards are available at the club.

Club competitions run on these days: - Wednesday: ladies - Thursday: men's scroungers - Saturday and Sunday: men and ladies

Bookings and general enquiries go through the club's contact page.
