About the course
Wandering Golf Club is at 306 North Wandering Road, Wandering, a small town about 120 km south-east of Perth and 27 km off Albany Highway, reached by turning at North Bannister. The course occupies the site of the old Wandering Racecourse.
The club grew out of a meeting of local residents in April 1957. Work started straight away, with bulldozers clearing timber for nine holes and the fairways ploughed and levelled. Progress slowed in 1958, but some rough-and-ready golf was being played by 1959, the first stage of the clubhouse was finished in 1960, and moves to extend to 18 holes began in 1962. The second nine opened for play in May 1964. Club golfers have gone on to win championships and events in the Upper Great Southern district.
The season runs from April to early October. Club days alternate between Saturdays and Sundays, and the ladies play 18 holes on Wednesdays, teeing off at about 11am. The competition fee is usually $5; other fees are not published online, so contact the club by email at wanderinggolfclub@gmail.com before visiting.
- Ladies Open Day: held in June, with the Sewell Cup and Cornish Rosebowl among the trophies in 2025.
