About the course
Antill Park Country Golf Club sits on the edge of Picton, below the southern slopes of the Razorback Range in the Wollondilly district. Its clubhouse is the former home of Major General John Macquarie Antill, built in 1864 and later divided into seven flats for workers at the Maldon Cement Works. Local golfers moved here from the Redbank Estate after approaching the Antill family in 1961 about leasing the 92-acre property. A community working bee built the first nine holes, which opened in September 1963; the course grew to 12 holes in 1966 and to 18 in 1969, and Council bought the land from the family in 1978.
The 18-hole, par 70 layout has a mix of tree-lined fairways, sand and water, with water hazards beside several holes and six par 3s. Five sets of tees are used.
- 1st: a 441-metre par 5 from the blue tees to a two-tiered green, with water just beyond it.
- 7th: the longest hole, a 524-metre par 5 with a creek to avoid on the second shot and an elevated green.
- 15th: a 187-metre par 3 over water to a large green that slopes back to front.
- 18th: a 315-metre par 4 that long hitters may try to drive, with a ridge running through the green.
Visitors are welcome and can book online or through the pro shop. Weekday green fees are $40 for 18 holes and $30 for nine ($50 and $32 on weekends), with twilight golf at $20 from 4pm. Visitors can enter the Monday and Thursday 18-hole competitions, the Saturday competition (bookable seven days ahead) and a 9-hole competition on Fridays. Electric and petrol carts are available ($50 for 18 holes for visitors), as are hire clubs. On-course dress rules apply.
The pro shop sells equipment, does repairs and re-grips, and offers private, group and on-course lessons on weekdays. The clubhouse bistro opens Friday to Sunday.
