About the course

Narrandera Golf Club was formed in June 1905 and played on several sites, including a flood-prone nine holes beside the Murrumbidgee River, before settling on land beside the Narrandera Racecourse. The club bought that land in 1927 and opened its 18-hole course in 1928. A water licence in 1970 allowed the fairways to be irrigated, and the last of the grass greens was finished in 1973. After drought damaged the course between 2008 and 2018, a grant of more than $660,000 in 2019 paid for solar power and a new irrigation system.

The course measures 5,752 metres from the white tees and plays to par 70 for men and 72 for women. It winds through cypress pine forest on a sandy base and is gently undulating. The back nine is the longer half, with pine-lined fairways and a tough stretch the club calls Amen Corner.

  • 2nd: the shortest hole, a 113-metre par 3 guarded by a front bunker.
  • 12th: a 519-metre par 5 that narrows towards the green, with water long and left.
  • 13th: an uphill 133-metre par 3 to a sloping green.

Social golf runs seven days and visitors are welcome, though weekend restrictions may apply, so booking by phone is recommended. Non-members pay $36 for 18 holes and $26 for nine, and carts are $40 and $30. Competitions are held on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, with veterans playing on Monday.

The club has a pro shop with club and cart hire and lessons, a function room with an alfresco area, and a bistro open on Friday nights.
