About the course

Bordertown Golf Club was formed in 1905 with a nine-hole course close to town. Members used a small tin shed as a clubhouse until a new one opened in 1950, and in 1956 the club bought land for an 18-hole course, built largely by volunteers who cleared part of the scrub and fertilised and seeded the sandy soil. Underground water now irrigates the fairways, greens and tees. The course is 6 kilometres north of the Bordertown township, and members still volunteer to maintain it.

The 18 holes cross gently undulating ground cut through stringybark, gums, broom bush, melaleucas and acacias. From the men's tees the course measures 5724 metres to a par of 71, with five par 3s and four par 5s; the women's course is 5162 metres, par 72. There are bunkers, wallabies and kangaroos live on the course, and corellas are common enough to damage the greens at times.

Visitors are welcome for nine or 18 holes. The green fee is $30 plus card fees for the whole day and $5 for juniors under 18, paid by card at the Vendi machine on the veranda, which also releases a hire buggy; cash is no longer accepted. Ladies play on Wednesdays, men on Thursday mornings, and Saturday is club day from 11.30am.

The practice fairway has flags at 50, 100 and 150 metres, with a putting and chipping area beside the clubrooms. The clubhouse seats up to about 170 and has a smaller bar. Eight powered, grassed caravan sites overlook the 9th and 18th greens, with a toilet and shower, at $30 plus fees a site, paid at the Vendi machine with no booking needed.
