About the course
Echunga Golf Club is on the corner of Hahndorf and Dolman Roads in the Adelaide Hills town of Echunga, five minutes from Hahndorf and about 30 minutes from the Adelaide CBD. It began as a nine-hole course. A second nine was added in 1995 and the original holes became the back nine, and members moved into a new clubhouse in 1997. The club bought an adjoining property to secure its water supply, and the course is fully watered.
The 18 holes are a par 70 of 5,458 metres for men and a par 71 of 5,084 metres for women, over gently undulating ground among large gum trees. The front nine is the hillier half and the back nine is flatter. Dams, creeks and out-of-bounds fences feature on several holes.
- 1st: a 378-metre par 4 with out of bounds along the whole left side and a dam narrowing the landing area.
- 6th: the longest hole, a 488-metre par 5 that curves to the left.
- 13th: a 284-metre par 4 where long hitters can carry the creek about 220 metres from the tee.
- 18th: a 147-metre par 3 played semi-blind over a ridge.
Echunga is a public course. Green fee players are welcome outside competition times, and anyone with an official handicap can enter the general competitions. Competitions run on Wednesday mornings (women), Thursday mornings and Saturdays until 1pm, so Saturday green fee times start after 1pm. Seniors and concession players pay $35 on weekdays, and all players pay $35 after 4pm. Book by phone on 08 8388 8038 or through the club's online request form. Electric carts are $40 for 18 holes and $25 for nine for non-members, and hire clubs with a pull buggy are $20; carts can be banned when the course is wet in winter.
The club is a registered MyGolf centre and runs Get Into Golf programs for beginners.

Seniors weekdays $35; all players after 4pm $35; electric cart $40 (18); book by phone or web form. Juniors (under 18) $25 for 18 holes, $15 for 9.
