About the course
Two Wells Golf Club plays in the Lewiston Park nature reserve on McPharlin Road, Lewiston, about 45 km north of the Adelaide CBD and 5 km from the town of Two Wells. The club formed in 1931 with nine holes on a council reserve in front of the Tavern Hotel, moved in 1949 to the Hicks property, and opened a nine-hole course cut from the scrub by volunteers in 1951. It had 12 holes by 1963, when it took a 50-year lease on condition that it protect the native trees and flora, and the purchase of 20 adjoining acres in 1983 allowed the move to 18 holes, with more than 400 native trees planted.
The course is par 70 and measures 5,199 metres for men and 4,699 metres for women, with sand scrapes rather than grass greens. The longest holes are the par-5 9th (546 metres) and 13th (521 metres).
- 1st: a 112-metre par 3, played blind over a large quarry surrounded by scrub.
- 9th: the hardest hole on the card, a 546-metre par 5.
Visitors can generally play on any day for $10 a day, unless the course is reserved for competitions, open days or interclub events. On competition days visitors may go out once the last group has passed the 10th hole. Sunday competitions tee off from 8:30am and the ladies play on Tuesday mornings; the competition fee is $5. Visitors with a current Australian handicap can enter club competitions, other than championships, monthly medals and honour board events. Practice is limited to three balls during casual rounds, and the 18th serves as the practice fairway. Players rake the scrapes after putting out, and buggies are kept off scrapes and tees.
The clubhouse has a bar, and the 2026 season opened on 3 May.
