About the course

Yacka Golf Club plays on part of the town parklands at Yacka, a small Mid North town on the Broughton River in the Northern Areas Council district. The council's history of Yacka records that the old common grazing land was turned over to sport and recreation during the twentieth century, with the golf course alongside the bowling green, oval and tennis courts.

The club plays a winter season. The Winter 2026 edition of Yacka-D-Yak, the town newsletter, reported that the season opened on a green course after good rain, and listed a busy fixture: President's par rounds, a red-tee stableford, qualifying rounds for the club championship, a Legacy Day and a Farmers' Day that drew 48 players. Yacka also plays an annual home-and-away match against Blyth.

The Yacka Open Day in 2026 attracted 43 players from 13 clubs, including ten women, with men's and ladies' championships, handicap grades and longest-drive and nearest-the-pin prizes. Yacka competes in association events such as pennants, ambrose and Pinehurst days, and is due to host the association Pinehurst in 2027. The season closes with a presentation dinner in September.

The clubhouse has a bar, staffed by volunteers on event days, and an automatic external defibrillator under the verandah. The newsletter describes the club as active and welcoming to newcomers. Green fees, hole count and playing times were not published in the sources checked, so contact the club before visiting.
