About the course

Yorketown Golf Club is in Yorketown, near the centre of the southern Yorke Peninsula between Gulf St Vincent and Spencer Gulf, a little over two hours' drive from Adelaide. Coming into town on Stansbury Road, turn right at the Melville Hotel onto Minlaton Road; Golf Road is about 300 metres along on the right.

The course is nine holes with separate tees for the second circuit, a par 70 of about 5,645 metres from the men's tees (the women's card is par 71). Its watered fairways and tees allow play all year. The club's hole notes point out:

  • 2nd: a 386-metre par 4 and the second-hardest hole, where long hitters can carry the trees on the right.
  • 4th: a 482-metre par 5 with out of bounds on the right and a fairway that narrows near the green.
  • 6th and 15th: a 344-metre par 4 with a blind tee shot over a crest to a narrow, tree-lined fairway.
  • 8th and 17th: the longest hole, 469 and 497 metres, with out of bounds along the right.
  • 16th: a 175-metre par 3 that plays longer into a southerly.

In wetter months casual water can affect the 1st and 7th.

The course is open seven days from sunrise to sunset, and green fee players and women are welcome in competitions. In the winter season the Saturday competition tees off at noon, with registration from 11.30am, and the Tuesday competition at 9.30am. Summer golf runs from October to March, with Saturday play from 9am and a mixed Tuesday competition from 9.30am. Meals are served on set winter days. For current fees and bookings, contact the club.
