About the course
Swansea Golf Club is a nine-hole community course on the coast at Waterloo Point, a short walk from the centre of Swansea. The town is about 134 km from Hobart and 133 km from Launceston, and the course looks across Great Oyster Bay to the Hazards on the Freycinet Peninsula.
The club's site says little about the layout itself or its history, but the course is open to the public all year and visitors are welcome at any time.
Green fees are $30 for all-day access, $10 for juniors and $75 for a week, and the use of golf clubs is included in the green fee. Pay by bank transfer, using your name as the reference, or by EFTPOS when the clubhouse is open. Members of other clubs can play the Saturday competition for $20, which includes afternoon tea, and visitors pay $10 for the Chicken Runs.
- Wednesday: Chicken Run from 1pm.
- Friday: Chicken Run all day.
- Saturday: competition with a shotgun start, 10am for a 10.30am hit-off unless otherwise stated.
The club also hosts women's competitions and East Coast veterans' events, and each year plays the FOBS inter-club series against Freycinet, Orford and Bicheno. Members and guests can get a drink and a snack in the clubhouse after their round on Saturdays and some other days, and the clubhouse is also used through the week by local community groups.
