About the course

Pittwater Golf Club was formed in 1950 by a group of Midway Point locals, who chose a site on land leased from the Reynolds family, a local farming family that is still the club's patron. The course was laid out in the first half of 1951, the first unofficial competition was played that June, and the official opening followed on 18 April 1953. The club now has more than 400 members.

The nine-hole course sits beside Orielton Lagoon, a Ramsar-listed wetland, and is watered from tee to green by the Penna Valley Irrigation Scheme. Seven alternate tees give the back nine different angles, so a full round uses 16 tees. From the white tees it measures 5,463 metres and is par 70 (slope 124); from the yellow tees it is 4,673 metres and par 72. Fairways are narrow and tree-lined, with the lagoon in play.

  • 2nd: rated the hardest hole, with a fairway that narrows at driving distance and a green with a false front.
  • 5th: the longest hole, a 490-metre par 5 along the lagoon to a three-tiered green.
  • 15th: the signature hole, a par 3 played from Reynolds Point, a tee the late Bill Reynolds built by hand on reclaimed land in the lagoon.

Social golf is open to groups that include a member of a Golf Australia affiliated club or of Pittwater, from 7am to 8pm when no competition is on, and on competition days only after the times set in the club calendar. The green fee is $35 for nine or 18 holes. Members can book affiliated visitors into the open competitions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, and the Wednesday twilight nine-hole event during daylight saving costs visitors $15. A dress code applies: collared shirts on the course and smart casual in the clubhouse.

The club has a practice green and practice area, and a clubroom and bar run by members on competition days.
