About the course

Chalambar Golf Club sits on Golf Links Road about two kilometres from the centre of Ararat, at the foot of One Tree Hill. The course is in a quiet rural setting with plenty of wildlife, and from its higher ground there are views across to the Pyrenees Ranges and Mount Langi Ghiran. The club combines golf and lawn bowls, and its turf bowls green is available for casual play all year.

The course is a fully watered 18-hole, par 70 layout with couch fairways, grass greens and bunkers. Ararat Rural City Council lists it as a public course, and the club is affiliated with Ballarat District Golf.

Visitors are welcome. Current green fees are not published online, and while the club website is under maintenance, tee times and restaurant bookings are taken by phone on (03) 5352 4297. Motorised carts, push buggies and hire clubs are available.

Practice facilities include a putting green and a chipping green; there is no driving range. The clubhouse is open seven days. Chally's Bar and Bistro serves lunch from Wednesday to Sunday and dinner from Wednesday to Saturday, with a deck overlooking the course and the bowls green. A courtesy bus runs on Friday and Saturday nights, picking up from anywhere within the Ararat city limits, and the club also hosts functions and events.
