About the course

Stawell Golf Club was established in 1898, when its first links opened in Dawson's Paddock on 1 June. The club moved to its present site off Marnoo Road in 1927, bringing the clubhouse from Grange Farm with it, and played on 18 sand scrapes until 1974, when they were replaced with grass greens. Recycled water has been used on the course since 1988, and a bowls club shares the property.

The 18-hole course is laid out among gum trees in open country, with a creek, not always running, through the middle. Tees, fairways and greens are fully watered. Men play 5840 metres to par 71 with a slope rating of 120, and women 5163 metres to par 74 with a slope of 118.

Competitions are held on Tuesdays for men, Wednesdays for women and Saturdays for both, and social golfers are welcome after competition times and on other days. Book through Bookatee or pay at the Vendi tap-and-go machine at the clubhouse entrance. The green fee is $35 for 18 holes, and juniors pay $13.50. Non-members can hire a cart for $40 for 18 holes or $35 for nine through Vendi Cart, and sets of hire clubs can be arranged by phone.

The clubrooms overlook several holes, with a practice putting green just outside the lounge. The licensed bar opens on competition days, and the clubrooms, hall, kitchen, rotunda and barbecue area can be hired for functions.
