About the course
Mornington Golf Club is one of the older clubs on the Mornington Peninsula and marked its centenary in 2004. Golf began on Cook's paddock behind what is now the Tanti Hotel, moved to the Mornington Racecourse in 1925 and, during the Second World War, to a private nine-hole course at the Dava Lodge guesthouse. In 1946 the club leased about 110 to 120 acres from Sir George Tallis, opening the first nine holes on 29 April 1950 and the second nine soon after. The land, later bought from the Tallis family, sits high on the clifftops above Mornington Harbour with views across Port Phillip Bay.
The course has Santa Ana couch fairways and bentgrass greens, and every hole has a view of the bay. A new par 3 on the cliff edge opened in 2017, giving the club 19 holes to work with, and the 9th and 18th have been redesigned along with a large new putting green and outdoor area beside the clubhouse. Members call the stretch from the 14th tee, which heads toward the bay and then runs along the water facing the harbour, "Baymen Corner".
Green fee players are welcome but must book, online after registering or through the pro shop on (03) 5975 4171. From 1 September 2026 to 31 May 2027 midweek fees are $85 for 18 holes and $55 for nine, with weekends and public holidays $100 and $70, and a peak rate of $120 and $80 from 12 December to 31 January. Carts are $59 for 18 holes and $44 for nine. The dress code is relaxed but rules out denim, board shorts, T-shirts and tracksuits on the course.
The golf shop holds fitting days, and PGA professionals Michael Faraone and Ollie Woj offer lessons plus junior and women's academies. The Bayview Restaurant serves lunch Wednesday to Saturday and dinner Thursday to Saturday.
