About the course
Centenary Park Golf Course is Frankston's public course, on McClelland Drive near the top of the Mornington Peninsula. Its club began in 1938 as the Frankston Municipal Golf Club, on a nine-hole municipal course on land that is now part of the George Pentland Botanic Gardens area. In 1974 Frankston City Council moved golf to an 18-hole public course on Crown land at the current site, laid out by golf professional Bill Clifford, and the club took the Centenary Park name in 1986. Since July 2026 the course has been managed by Peninsula Leisure, a company owned by Frankston City Council.
The course is an 18-hole par 72 of 6,122 metres, with wide landing areas, bunkering and water hazards. Its tees are named by ability rather than gender: Community (red), Adventure (blue) and Challenge (black).
- 1st: a par 5 of up to 479 metres with water on both sides of the fairway.
- 2nd: an uphill par 3 of up to 154 metres, bunkered on both sides.
- 3rd: a dogleg-right par 4 of up to 362 metres to a two-tier green with a false front.
Everyone is welcome, and no membership is needed. The course, range and shop open from 7am to 5:30pm, and from 6am to 8pm in daylight saving. Weekday fees vary with demand, from $34.50 to $45 for 18 holes and $28.50 to $35 for nine; weekend rates are higher, and twilight golf starts at 3pm. Carts cost $40 for nine holes and $55 for 18, and buggies $10. Weekday concession rates and student rates apply. The volunteer-run Centenary Park Golf Club holds competitions on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The open-air range has eight bays with a tap-and-pay ball dispenser, alongside a putting green and chipping areas. The pro shop offers lessons, club fitting and repairs, and a café and licensed bar serve food and drinks, with a deck overlooking the 18th.
