About the course

Ouyen Golf Club is on Cooper Street, Ouyen, in the Mallee. The first official game in the town was played in August 1912 on a new nine-hole course. The club moved to its present site, on the reserve west of town, in June 1915 and opened an 18-hole course there with a tournament on 7 June. It marked its centenary of golf in 2013.

The course runs through undulating natural bushland of mallee trees and native shrubs. The fairways are wide and sown with native and barley grasses, the tees are well watered and the greens are sand. Men play to par 71 over 5,892 metres (scratch rating 70, slope 114) and women to par 72 over 5,133 metres (scratch rating 72, slope 115). The club has hosted the Victorian Open Sand Green Championship.

Golf here is seasonal: the course opens from mid-April to the end of August, and visitors are welcome on all competition days. The 2026 program ran mostly on Sundays and Tuesdays, from opening day in April to a closing fun day in September, with an annual tournament in July. The green fee is $10. The phone is answered only during competition hours.

There is a practice fairway, where you need to bring your own balls, and the clubhouse has a licensed bar and snacks and opens on competition days.
