About the course

Denmark Country Club is on the South Coast Highway a few minutes from the centre of Denmark, in a rural reserve setting. As well as the golf course it has an undercover driving range, eight synthetic tennis courts and a modern clubhouse.

The course is an 18-hole, par 72 layout of 5795 metres from the blue tees and 5188 metres from the red tees. It is gently undulating and easy to walk, with reticulated fairways winding between trees and water features. There are no sand bunkers; instead the elevated grass greens are ringed by fescue, which puts a premium on accurate chipping. Kangaroos and native birds are common, orchids flower in the rough in winter, and snakes can be about in summer.

Visitors are welcome all year. The club keeps a booking diary but also takes drop-in players, who play from the white tees. Green fees are seasonal: from June to November $40 for 18 holes and $25 for nine, and from December to May $50 for 18 holes and $30 for nine. Electric carts ($40 for 18 holes, $30 for nine) and hire clubs must be booked ahead, and carts have tee-off cut-off times so they are back during office hours. When the office is unattended, pay by PayID or cash in an envelope through the door.

The course is closed to green fee players for the Saturday afternoon competition: on Saturdays, 18-hole visitors must tee off before 9am, and nine-hole visitors before 10.30am or after 3pm. Visitors with a current Golflink number can enter the weekly competitions, which also run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

The driving range has undercover mats and a card-operated ball dispenser, with 50 balls for $10. The clubhouse bar overlooks the practice green and tennis courts, and any alcohol drunk on the course must be bought from the club.
