About the course

Pink Lake Golf, the trading name of Pink Lake Country Club, is on Nicholson Drive off Great Ocean Drive, beside Pink Lake and about 5 km from the centre of Esperance. The front nine opened in 1982 and the back nine in 1989, and in 2007 the two nines were swapped to suit the new clubhouse. Several holes carry the names of founding members, and the 13th, "Old Smokey", recalls the town rubbish tip that once smouldered next door.

The 18-hole links course has grass greens and plays to par 72, measuring 6,137 metres from the blue tees, 5,961 metres from the white and about 5,000 metres from the red. Coastal scrub and melaleucas line many holes, and the Esperance sea breeze shapes how several play.

  • 1st (Tipperary): a 531-metre par 5, one of the harder holes on the card.
  • 5th (Eagles Nest): a 474-metre par 5 where the second shot carries about 200 metres of thick coastal scrub.
  • 11th (Take 5): the index 1 hole, a 400-metre par 4 into the winter southerly to a green set on the hillside.
  • 16th (The Basin): a 141-metre par 3 to a green in a bowl that feeds balls back towards the putting surface.

Visitors are welcome and on most days no booking is needed. Green fees are $25 for 18 holes and $15 for nine. Non-members can join the weekly competitions by paying the green fee and arriving 30 minutes before the start, though proof of handicap is needed to win the main prizes: Monday mixed from the red tees at 1pm, Wednesday ladies at 9am, Thursday men's scroungers at 12pm and Saturday mixed at 12pm.

The clubhouse can be hired for weddings and functions.
