About the course
Ballina Golf & Sports Club is in East Ballina on the Far North Coast of NSW, beside North Creek and less than an hour's drive from the Gold Coast. The club was formed at a meeting on 6 June 1908, and its first nine holes were laid out east of Owen Street, on land now used for the Kingsford Smith Park sports fields. The club went into recess during the Second World War, was reformed in 1956 and opened a nine-hole course in East Ballina in April 1957. Extra land bought in 1967 allowed expansion to 18 holes: the clubhouse opened in October 1974 and the first competition on the full layout was played in August 1975.
The course is a flat, tree-lined 18-hole layout on former dairy grazing land, playing to par 72 and 6,051 metres from the blue tees, with white and red tees as well.
- 11th: a 314-metre par 4 that longer hitters can reach from the tee, with water along the full length of the hole.
- 15th: the stroke index 1 hole, a 393-metre par 4 to a raised, well-bunkered green.
- 17th: a 122-metre par 3 played uphill to a green bunkered left, right and in front.
Visitors can book tee times online through the club's public booking calendar. In October 2026 the visitor rate was $70 for 18 holes and $40 for nine. Hire sets cost $40 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, including balls, tees and a pull buggy, and electric carts are available.
The pro shop is run by PGA professionals and offers lessons using Trackman, club fitting and repairs. A turfed driving range opens on weekday afternoons, and there is an indoor golf studio. The clubhouse has the Asian Green Chinese restaurant and the Bunker Cafe & Bar, which looks over the course.
