About the course
Bardwell Valley Golf Club, known locally as The Valley, lies in bushland on the slopes of Bardwell Creek, about 12 kilometres south of the Sydney CBD and 6 kilometres from the domestic airport. It is reached from the M5, Bexley Road or Forest Road, and has a large car park. The course opened in 1964 with nine holes, grew to 12, and became a full 18-hole layout in 1978.
The 18 holes play to par 62, with tree-lined fairways through a valley setting that feels removed from the surrounding suburbs. The par makes it a short course with many par 3s, suited to golfers of all abilities.
Visitors are welcome on any day, booking tee times around competitions online or through the pro shop. Green fees on the online tee sheet are $34 for 18 holes and $27 for nine on weekdays, and $48 for 18 holes and $34 for nine at weekends. Competitions run most days:
- Tuesday: veterans (50 and over) and open competitions from early morning.
- Thursday: men's and women's open competitions.
- Friday: an open competition through the day, plus a 5pm twilight ambrose during daylight saving that needs no handicap.
- Saturday: the main competition day; visitors can book only one week ahead.
- Sunday: an open competition in the early morning.
Social golf clubs can book on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with packages that combine golf, hire clubs, carts and meals. Carts should be booked ahead. Dress is collared shirts, shorts, trousers or skirts and golf shoes or trainers; singlets are not allowed.
The pro shop handles bookings, club and cart hire, pull buggies, club fitting and repairs, and a PGA professional gives private lessons and clinics. The clubhouse has a balcony overlooking the course and a bistro open from Tuesday to Sunday, with Monday night trivia.
