About the course

Bingara Sporting Club is at 8 Bombelli Street, Bingara, a Gwydir Shire town on the Fossickers Way in north-west NSW. Its golf course runs alongside the Gwydir River, which comes into play on several holes.

The course is played as 18 holes using nine greens and 18 sets of tees, and the greens have kikuyu approaches and surrounds. The layout is flat to gently undulating and easy to walk, and the teeing areas are clearly marked. Par is 66 for men and 72 for women.

Visitors are welcome seven days a week. The green fee for visitors and non-sporting members is $20 for the day, paid at the clubhouse or, when it is closed, in the honesty box at the course gate with your name on the envelope. Tee times and the club's two golf carts can be booked online through Vendi Golf. The weekly competitions are:

Tuesday: ladies
Thursday: nine-hole chook run, 2pm tee-off
Friday: veterans, on the second and fourth Fridays
Saturday: mixed, 12.30pm tee-off
Sunday: men, 12.30pm tee-off

Each September the club hosts the Fossickers Way Week of Golf, a veterans event decided over three days, and its annual memorial day is played in the first week of December.

The licensed clubhouse opens from 4pm on weekdays and from noon on weekends, and its restaurant serves Chinese and Australian meals at lunch and dinner, closed on Tuesdays. The club also has two bowling greens, clay and synthetic tennis courts and a 24-hour gym, and its rooms can be hired for meetings and functions.
