About the course
Cabramatta Golf Club sits at the corner of Cabramatta Road and the Cumberland Highway in south-western Sydney. The land was part of a 200-acre grant made to Robert Cummings in 1805. In 1939 W. Hansford built a course and clubhouse on 98 acres and leased them to the Cabramatta County Golf Club, which played a par-66 layout on about 78 acres. Members then bought the property for 16,000 pounds, and Cabramatta Golf Club Ltd was incorporated on 4 March 1947.
The 18-hole course is a par 70 with water features, creeks and gum trees across rolling ground. It opens with four long par 4s, and the hardest stretch comes early:
- 3rd: a 435-metre dogleg left that usually plays into the prevailing wind.
- 6th: the longest hole, a 498-metre par 5 with a large gum tree guarding the right side 100 metres short of the green.
- 12th: the longest of five par 3s at 180 metres.
- 18th: a 377-metre par 4 that finishes uphill, with blind bunkers to the right of the green.
The club hosts the Cabramatta Cup and Major Pennants matches, and its competitions are played on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Visitors are welcome all day on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, after 1pm on Wednesdays and public holidays, after midday on Thursdays and after 3pm on weekends. Tee times are arranged by phoning the pro shop on (02) 9602 1516. Weekday green fees are $45 for 18 holes before 2.30pm and $35 after, and $50 on weekends; a weekday special covers two players with a cart for $120. Carts cost $50, and hire clubs with a pull buggy $25.
The Bunker Cafe and Spike Bar serve food during the day, with lunch in the clubhouse on Thursdays and Fridays. Function rooms include a large covered outdoor area.
