About the course
Fairfield Golf Course is a public course on the corner of Smithfield Road and Beavors Street at Prairiewood in Sydney's west, next to the Fairfield City Showground. It occupies a 42-hectare bushland site, with woodland trees separating the fairways, and the grounds include one of Fairfield City Council's flood detention basins, which was rebuilt and completed in May 2023.
The 18-hole course caters for social golfers and competition players alike, and the club allows about two hours to play each nine. It also has a driving range for irons only, a practice putting green and barbecues on site.
The course is open seven days from 7am to 5pm, with hours subject to weather. The club's pricing page, updated in November 2025, lists $26 for 18 holes and $19 for nine on weekdays, and $31 and $23 on weekends and public holidays. Midweek, students and seniors pay $19 for 18 holes and pensioners $15. Electric carts cost $42 for 18 holes and $31 for nine, club hire with a pull buggy $15 or $12, and a pull buggy alone $6. Range buckets are $10 for 40 balls and $15 for 70. Bookings are by phone on 02 9604 4007 or by email to play@fairfieldgolf.com.au. Internal competitions run on Tuesdays (ladies), Saturdays and Sundays, and visitors pay $31 to enter the Saturday event. The dress code is smart casual: a collared shirt or T-shirt and closed-in shoes, with no singlets or thongs.
The pro shop stocks balls, bags, gloves and apparel, sells cold drinks, snacks, pies and sausage rolls, and arranges lessons with a PGA professional; Jack Paisley is the course's PGA professional.
