About the course
Cobram Barooga Golf Club is on Burkinshaw Street at Barooga, on the New South Wales side of the Murray River opposite Cobram. It is part of the Sporties Barooga complex and a member of the Golf on the Murray group of river clubs.
The club has 36 holes on two courses. The Old Course was first played in 1928 and was extended to 18 holes in 1955, with design credited to Vern Morcom. It runs among large river red gums and native plants, with narrow fairways and well-placed hazards, and is short by modern standards. The club notes its recognition in Top 100 course lists by Golf Australia Magazine and The Golf Course Guide. The West Course is newer and slightly longer, with wider fairways, larger and more sloping greens and many more water hazards. Both courses play to par 72. A draft golf master plan was released for member feedback in November 2025.
- Old Course 18th: a 333-metre hole with a semi-blind tee shot that moves right to left to an elevated green ringed by bunkers.
- West Course 16th: a 180-metre par 3 with a water carry across the fairway.
Tee times can be booked online, and stay-and-play packages are sold through the club. Green fees are $55 for 18 holes and $30 for nine from Monday to Thursday, rising to $65 and $40 from Friday to Sunday; the club hires motorised carts, buggies and clubs, and visitor-owned motorised carts have not been permitted since July 2024. The 2026 calendar includes a Melbourne Cup tournament and the club hosts the Players Series Murray River event in January 2027.
Facilities include a pro shop offering lessons and fittings, indoor golf simulators, a mini golf course, a bistro and cafe, and a courtesy bus.
