About the course
Finley Golf Club is in the Southern Riverina town of Finley, about 10 minutes north of the Murray River. The club formed in 1921 on the old racecourse reserve, where members used the former racing stables until a first clubhouse was built around 1930. After a recess during the Second World War, the club left its nine-hole layout and moved to the present site for the 1954 season, and the current clubhouse replaced the original building in 1978. Sand scrapes and natural fairways have since been replaced by watered grass greens and fairways, and volunteers maintain the course.
The 18-hole course is flat and has no bunkers. It plays to par 72 for men and women, measuring 5,920 metres from the blue tees and 5,204 metres from the red tees.
- 1st: a 518-metre par 5 to open the round.
- 6th: a 141-metre par 3.
- 18th: a short finish, a 133-metre par 3.
Social play is available every day, with some restrictions during competitions. Social green fees are $30 for 18 holes and $20 for nine, and carts cost $50 for 18 holes and $25 for nine. Bookings are taken by phone. Visitors with a Golf Australia handicap who enter the day's competition pay a $30 competition fee.
From March to November, competitions run on weekend mornings, on Wednesday (ladies in the morning, men around midday) and as a nine-hole medley from 2pm on Thursday. The December to February summer program moves weekend and Wednesday play to 8am to 1pm and the Thursday nine-hole medley to 3pm. The club publishes weekly results and an annual events calendar online.
