About the course
Dunheved Golf Club is on Links Road at St Marys in Sydney's west. Its 18-hole course plays to par 72 and measures about 6,260 metres, with each nine a par 36 containing two par 3s and two par 5s. Creeks and hazards come into play on many holes, and most greens slope from back to front and are guarded by bunkers on both sides, several of them split into two tiers.
- 9th: the hardest hole, a 403-metre par 4 with a creek across the fairway 180 metres short of a raised green, so most players lay up from the tee.
- 13th: the shortest hole, a 145-metre par 3 with bunkers across the front and a steep drop behind.
- 16th: the longest hole, a 519-metre par 5 that drifts right before turning sharply left near the green.
- 18th: a dogleg-left par 4 of 369 metres with a creek crossing 70 metres short of the green.
Social golfers are welcome every day outside competition times, social club bookings and corporate events. Tee times can be booked online or through the golf shop. Weekday social green fees are $30 for 18 holes and $20 for nine; weekend rounds after 3pm cost $45 and $30, and carts are $45 for 18 holes or $30 for nine. Open competitions run on Monday, Wednesday (including an over-50s veterans event), Friday and Sunday, and on the last Saturday of the month; non-members need three of their last 20 rounds played at their own club to be eligible for prizes.
The club has a self-serve driving range of about 180 metres for members and playing guests (bring your own balls) and a putting green between the 18th green and the clubhouse. The golf shop stocks major brands, does regripping and reshafting, and offers lessons with the head PGA professional, plus junior clinics on Tuesday afternoons in school terms and holiday clinics. The clubhouse has a bistro.
