About the course
Glenmore Heritage Valley is at 690 Mulgoa Road, Mulgoa, in the Mulgoa Valley at the foot of the Blue Mountains on Sydney's western edge. The Glenmore homestead was built by Henry Cox, son of road-builder William Cox, from 1825, and was bought in 1852 by James John Riley, later Penrith's first mayor. Glenmore Country Club opened in May 1927 with golf, horse riding and swimming, and the club describes it as the second-oldest metropolitan course west of Parramatta. It grew to 18 holes in 1938, and after a full redesign in 1993 became a 27-hole complex under its present name. The old homestead and coach house are still in use.
The 27 holes are played in three combinations. The Links 18 (holes 1 to 18) is par 72 and measures 6,399 metres from the blue tees. The Valley 18 (holes 10 to 27) is 5,281 metres from the blue tees and is popular with social golfers. The Original 9 (holes 19 to 27) is 2,148 metres from the white tees.
The course is open seven days from sunrise to sunset, and tee times are booked through the pro shop by phone or email. Weekday fees are $38 for the Links 18, $30 for the Valley 18, $28 for nine holes on either course, $18 for the Original 9 and $50 for all 27. Weekend rates are higher. Visitors can hire one of 50 GPS carts for $45 for 18 holes and $35 for nine; carts may use the fairways but must stay 20 metres from greens.
Practice facilities include a putting green and hitting nets, with chipping and pitching areas for members. The pro shop, in the 1820s coach house, offers lessons, club repairs and hire clubs, and there is a dining and bar area.
