About the course
Wallacia Country Club sits at 13 Park Road in the village of Wallacia, on Sydney's south-western fringe. Alongside the 18-hole golf course the club has bowls, a bar, TAB and Keno facilities and the Homestead Kitchen bistro, and members can use club holiday accommodation at Tuncurry on the Mid North Coast.
The course is a par 70 of 5,422 metres, with a short front nine of par 33 and a longer back nine of par 37. A creek, sloping fairways, two-tier and elevated greens and out of bounds on several holes set the challenge, and the 4th hole and the 13th green have been rebuilt in recent years.
- 1st: a 359-metre par 4 where the drive needs to stay right and short of the creek, to a green that falls steeply from back to front.
- 8th: the hardest hole on the card, a 185-metre par 3 played over trees on the left.
- 16th: the longest hole, a 530-metre par 5 with a large tree to clear for the second shot.
- 18th: an uphill drive leaves a blind second shot to a small green with a large bunker behind it.
The course is open seven days from 6:30am, except Christmas Day, and tee times are booked online or through the pro shop. The club's green fee page lists weekday rates of $25 for 18 holes and $20 for nine, rising to $35 and $25 on weekends and public holidays, with unlimited golf for $10 after 1pm on weekdays and juniors at $15. Visitors pay $42 for an 18-hole cart and $30 for nine. Members' competitions are open events, with stableford on Sunday, open medley rounds early in the week, ladies' golf on Wednesday and open social golf on Friday, although visitors cannot win a championship.
The clubhouse is open Wednesday to Sunday, and an all-day snack menu is served from 10am on those days.
