About the course

Jamberoo Golf Club lies in the Jamberoo Valley a few minutes inland from Kiama and about 30 minutes south of Wollongong, on low ground between Hyams Creek and the Minnamurra River. The club grew out of the Jamberoo Social Golf Club, formed at a public meeting at the Jamberoo pub in 1976. After Kiama Council bought the former Tate family farm, the club negotiated a lease of about 18 hectares, work began clearing the paddocks in April 1980, and the first competition was played on 6 September 1980 over sand greens. The club celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2021.

Today the course has 18 grass greens and measures 4842 metres, playing to a par of 67 for men and 71 for women. The ground is flat and easy to walk, but Hyams Creek crosses the course several times and many holes offer risk and reward choices.

  • 2nd: a short par 4 with trouble all round a severely sloping green.
  • 5th: a tight par 4 with a creek in front of a two-tier green and out of bounds close behind.
  • 7th: a short par 3 with water and trouble around the green.

The course is open to pay-and-play golfers seven days a week, and social groups and corporate days are catered for. Green fees are not published online, so ring the golf shop to confirm prices. Club competitions are open only to members of affiliated clubs:

  • Monday: veterans, men and women.
  • Tuesday: women.
  • Wednesday: men.
  • Saturday: men, with women also welcome.

The golf shop sells equipment, clothing and refreshments, carts can be hired, and the club holds a full liquor licence with no BYO. Footgolf, Champagne 9 and Get Into Golf programmes are also offered.
