About the course
Kiama Golf Club is on Oxley Avenue at Kiama Downs, in the village of Minnamurra on the banks of the Minnamurra River and a short drive from Kiama township. Golf in the town goes back to 1903, when the Shoalhaven Telegraph reported that Kiama had formed a club and a visiting professional had laid out a nine-hole links on Chapman Point, behind Kendall's Beach. A club history timeline, compiled by a member, covers the years from 1903 to 1961.
Today's course is an 18-hole par 66 with tree-lined fairways and views of the escarpment. The club's hole guide lists the 10th as a 275-metre par 4 and the 12th as a 517-metre par 5 from the men's tees.
Social golf runs seven days, with plenty of morning times, and singles or pairs may be grouped with other players. Green fees are $45 for 18 holes and $32 for nine from Monday to Friday, and $50 and $36 on weekends and public holidays. Twilight golf from 3pm is $28 on weekdays, and juniors pay $10 any day. Non-members can enter competitions for $39 on weekdays. A non-member cart for 18 holes is $47 midweek, from a fleet of 20. Book through the golf shop on (02) 4237 7300 or online. Private carts need a form and a $30 fee, and scooters and e-bikes are not allowed. Men need collared or mock-neck shirts, covered shoes are required and metal spikes are banned.
The pro shop, led by PGA professional Will Gunn, opens early and closes at 6pm, offers lessons and hires left and right-handed sets as well as junior sets. There is a putting green. The clubhouse opens from 10am on weekdays and 9.30am on weekends, and the cafe and bistro serve coffee from 6.30am, breakfast from 8am to 11am, lunch from 11.30am to 3pm and dinner from 5.30pm to 8pm.
