About the course

Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club is in the seaside village of Shoalhaven Heads, about two hours' drive south of Sydney and 10 minutes from Berry, with Coolangatta Mountain to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east. The club formed in 1978, funded at first by $1 community donations, and construction began in October 1984 with three holes that are still in play. The first clubhouse was a shipping container. The course grew to nine holes in 1997 and 15 in 2006, and after long environmental and land-rights approvals the full 18 holes opened on 25 May 2012.

The links-style course is par 71 for men and 72 for women, and its sand base lets it stay open through long spells of rain. A north-easterly sea breeze is a factor on the back nine in summer. State events held here include the NSW Senior Amateur (2021) and NSW Country Championships (2022). The 4th green was rebuilt and the 11th fully redesigned in 2025.

  • 6th: a 114-metre par 3 to a small, raised green.
  • 13th: stroke index 1, a 518-metre par 5 that usually plays into the summer sea breeze, with out of bounds right and a penalty area along the left.
  • 18th: a 460-metre par 5 to a green 56 metres long, below the clubhouse verandah.

Visitors are welcome for social and competition play. Green fees are $55 for 18 holes and $35 for nine, and Monday social golf is $45 all day. Competitions run on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, open to visitors with a GA handicap for $50. Bookings are by phone to the pro shop on 02 4448 8683. Visitor carts cost $50 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, with clubs and buggies for hire.

The pro shop, run by PGA professional Greg Collins and open 7am to 5pm daily, has 35 carts and offers club fitting and lessons. The Links 19 Café serves breakfast and lunch from 7am to 2pm daily, and the clubhouse has a licensed bar.
