About the course
Kempsey Golf Club is at 330 Macleay Valley Way, South Kempsey, about five kilometres south of Kempsey on the Mid North Coast. The course is a design by Arthur W. East, laid out in natural bushland.
The 18-hole, par 72 layout has tree-lined fairways and a gently undulating shape, with a creek and a dam in play and some bunkering. Golf NSW lists the blue tees at 5,804 metres and the red at 5,325 metres. Recycled water irrigates the greens, fairways and trees, and resident kangaroos are a daily feature.
Visitors are welcome. The visitor green fee is $40 for 18 holes and $25 for nine, carts cost $40 for 18 holes and $25 for nine, and clubs and buggies can be hired. Tee times can be booked by phone or online through 1Golf. Social play times vary by day around the competitions:
- Tuesday: veterans' 14-hole competition
- Wednesday: ladies' competition
- Thursday: 18-hole open stableford, which visitors can join, plus a nine-hole social competition in daylight saving time
- Friday: nine-hole competition alternating between the front and back nines
- Saturday: 18-hole competition from 7am to 12.30pm, with the monthly medal on the first Saturday
Clean, tidy dress is expected, and ripple-sole shoes and thongs are not allowed on the course.
The practice fairway and driving range are open to the public during club hours, with range buckets from $6. The licensed clubhouse has a bar, a gaming room and the Eagles Nest function room overlooking the course. It opens from 7am daily, closing at 7pm Sunday to Wednesday and 10pm Thursday to Saturday.
