About the course
Nowra Golf Club is at North Nowra on the northern bank of the Shoalhaven River, about two and a half hours' drive south of Sydney. The course runs between the river on one side and the escarpment on the other, and the club is now part of the It's My Club group alongside the Bomaderry Bowling Club.
The 18-hole course is short and tight, with a par of 68 for men and 71 for women. It measures 5,166 metres from the blue tees (rating 67, slope 124) and 5,050 metres from the red tees (rating 73, slope 129). Several tees are cut into the escarpment, well above the fairways, with views over the course and the river.
- 6th: a 359-metre par 4, the second-hardest hole for men.
- 8th: a 100-metre par 3, the shortest on the course.
- 17th: a 213-metre par 3, rated the third-hardest hole for men.
Social golf is available seven days a week from dawn to dusk, and the course stays open late on Friday nights. Social green fees are $40 for 18 holes on weekdays and $30 for nine. Carts cost $42.50 for 18 holes and $35 for nine, pull buggies $7 and hire clubs $20. Tee times can be booked online or through the golf shop, and visiting members of the club's reciprocal clubs can join suitable competitions.
Competitions run on Monday (a 12-hole social competition at noon), Wednesday (men), Thursday (women) and Saturday (mixed).
The golf shop stocks essential equipment. The clubhouse has lounges, a bistro and a verandah, and the River View Function Centre and its gardens are used for functions and weddings.
