About the course

Pacific Dunes is at Medowie in the Port Stephens area, a short drive from Newcastle. The course opened in 2005 within 135 hectares of bushland. The club says it was designed by a former PGA touring professional, and it has appeared in Golf Digest's list of Australia's top 100 courses since opening.

The 18 holes form two distinct nines: the front nine runs through native woodland and the back nine through wetland, with water hazards along the way. Greens are bentgrass and fairways Santa Ana couch. After an extended dry spell since September 2025, the club is prioritising greens, surrounds and tees and says the fairways are below their usual standard.

Visitors are welcome. Green fees are $90 for 18 holes Monday to Thursday and $110 Friday to Sunday, with twilight rates of $60 from 1:30pm and $45 from 3pm. Carts cost $50 and Titleist hire clubs $55. Tee times are booked through the online calendar or on 02 4916 0500. Denim is not permitted, and collared shirts and soft-spike shoes are recommended.

Warm-up nets, a putting green and a chipping green are beside the clubhouse. The golf shop stocks apparel and accessories, and PGA professionals including Kurt Linde give lessons. The Greenhouse restaurant and bar focuses on local, seasonal produce, can deliver food out on the course or have a meal ready after the round, and hosts weddings, functions and live music on Sunday afternoons.
