About the course
Rosnay Golf Club is based at 5 Weymouth Avenue, Auburn, and its home course is the Auburn Public Golf Course, which is owned and maintained by Cumberland Council. The club began in 1963 as the Auburn Social Golf Club, playing on the public course. In 1965 members bought a house on the present site to serve food and drinks at weekend competitions, gained affiliation with the Australian Golf Union and took the Rosnay name. A second house followed and, in time, the first clubhouse. The club's first professional was Al Howard.
The course has 18 holes and a par of 68. It is flat, but trees line many holes and reward accurate play, and new bunkers and paths have been added.
The course is open to the public, and the club says visitors are always welcome. Social green fees from Monday to Thursday are $26 for 18 holes and $19 for nine; from Friday to Sunday and on public holidays they are $31 and $21. Twilight golf costs $14 for 18 holes after 2.30pm. Carts hire for $36, pull buggies for $3 and clubs for $10. Bookings and group enquiries go through the pro shop on (02) 9749 1550. Visitors can also enter competitions: seniors and veterans play on Tuesday ($20), mixed open events run on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and some public holidays, and the Friday 'duck' competition includes lunch for $30. Women are welcome in all events.
The pro shop sells equipment and offers lessons, club fitting and repairs, and the club has practice facilities. The licensed clubhouse has a bar, Keno, showers, lockers, free wifi and a covered deck overlooking the course. The bistro serves Asian and western food from 11.30am to 3pm and 5.30pm to 9pm on weekdays, and 9am to 9pm at weekends.
