About the course
Wagga City Golf Club is at Moorong, about five minutes west of the Wagga Wagga CBD off the Sturt Highway. It is an 18-hole course for golfers of all abilities, and membership is not needed to play.
The course plays to a par of 72 for men and 74 for women. From the blue championship tees it measures 6,129 metres (rating 72, slope 119), with white tees at 5,768 metres and yellow and red tees at about 5,285 metres. Trees and native wildlife line the holes and bunkers guard the greens. The 9th is the feature hole, with water in play and bunkers around the green.
The course is open from 6am to 6pm every day except Christmas Day. Social play runs all day on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday; on Tuesday it starts after 11.30am, Wednesday after 10.30am and Saturday after 11am, so call ahead on those days. Visitor fees are $30 for 18 holes and $25 for nine on weekdays, and $43 and $38 at weekends; players 17 and under pay $15. Non-member carts cost $50 for 18 holes and $35 for nine, pull buggies $5 and hire clubs $15 to $20. Public tee times can be booked online.
Competitions run every day:
- Monday and Thursday: nine-hole competitions.
- Tuesday and Friday: ladies' 18-hole competitions.
- Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday: member and visitor competitions.
The pro shop stocks major brands and has a fitting studio with video analysis and a launch monitor, and lessons are offered for beginners through to advanced players. The club's own FAQ says there is no driving range. Light refreshments are sold, including sandwiches, pies, soft drinks and mid-strength beer, and the club hosts corporate golf days.
