About the course
Alpha Golf Club is at 53 Dryden Street in Alpha, a small town on the Capricorn Highway in the Barcaldine region of central-west Queensland. The town takes its name from a property taken up in 1863 and later grew as a base for railway construction workers, and the surrounding shire is one of Queensland's major cattle districts.
The course is a traditional outback layout with sand greens and natural fairways shaped by the land, and kangaroos can sometimes be seen on the course. In 2025 the club hosted a round of the Outback Queensland Masters, the amateur golf series played across remote outback towns.
Visitors are welcome to join the club's regular events and competitions. The clubhouse has a bar serving food and refreshments, with lawns and gardens around it, and the club's tourism listing says it welcomes people with access needs. Green fees and competition days are not published online, so ring the club on (07) 4985 1398 before visiting.
