About the course

Barcaldine Golf Club is on Pine Street, about a kilometre from the centre of Barcaldine, a central-west town at the junction of the Capricorn and Landsborough highways, 1,072 kilometres north-west of Brisbane.

It is an outback course of natural fairways and traditional sand greens, with holes shaped by the natural contours of the land and local wildlife part of the scene. Outback Queensland Tourism describes it as suited to players of all levels at a relaxed pace.

The club hosted rounds of the Outback Queensland Masters in 2022 and 2024, drawing golfers from around the country. In 2024 the Barcaldine leg was played on 6 and 7 July, one of six weekends on a route that also took in Birdsville, Boulia, Winton and Charleville before the finale at Quilpie, with 18 holes played at each stop and a $10,000 hole-in-one prize on offer.

Visitors are welcome, and the club holds regular tournaments and social days. The clubhouse has a bar and serves food and drinks, with lawns and gardens outside. Green fees and opening hours are not published online, so phone the club on 07 4651 2441 before visiting.
