About the course

Barossa Valley Golf Club is on Golf Course Road outside Nuriootpa, a short drive from Tanunda, Angaston, Gawler and Kapunda. It began as the Angaston Golf Club, which the club dates to 1905, and affiliated with the state golf association in June 1906, playing a nine-hole course with slag scrapes on John Dalwitz's land between Angaston and Nuriootpa. In 1954 the club bought 162 acres at Kalimna from Penfolds, to be known as the John Dalwitz Links, commissioned Vern Morcom in 1957 to design a course there, and officially opened it in September 1962. It took its present name in 1968, and full grass greens arrived with a 1995 renovation. The club is member-owned.

The course is 18 holes, 6,026 metres and par 72, in bushland where kangaroos and a range of birdlife are often seen.

Visitors are welcome seven days, subject to availability. Adults pay $45 for 18 holes and $35 for nine from Monday to Saturday, $50 for 18 on Sundays, and $35 for 18 after 3pm. Juniors pay $15 to play as many holes as they like. Visitor carts are $50 for 18 holes and $35 for nine. Book online or by phone on (08) 8562 1589. The course and clubhouse close when the forecast is 40 degrees or more. The main competitions are on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and public holidays, and everyone is welcome to enter.

The driving range is open from sunrise to sunset. The golf shop hires clubs and carts, sells balls, clothing and accessories, and takes lesson bookings. It opens at 7am on weekends and 7.30am or 8am on weekdays.
