About the course
Flagstaff Hill Golf Club is on Memford Way in the southern Adelaide suburb of Flagstaff Hill. The course was created in the mid-1960s as part of Hooker Rex's housing development, with New South Wales golf architect Bob Green choosing the site and preparing the layout. The club was formed and its clubhouse built in 1967, on the site of a former winery, and the club bought the property in 1978. On 28 October 1968 an exhibition match with Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Bruce Devlin drew more than 5,000 spectators.
The 18-hole hills course has sloping, tree-lined fairways, mature gums and two creeks, and is surrounded by almost 1,000 homes. The men's courses are par 72 and the women's par 73. A spare hole is available during redevelopment work, and orange tees provide a short course for beginners and juniors.
- 7th: the signature hole, a 145-metre par 3 played over Loch Hillan, the club's water storage.
